Artist's Comments

This is my first piece of space art. Woohoo! :D

The Grass Planet (Dantooine? :) ) is mostly result of my experimentation with different techniques, brushes and textures. While I mostly followed Greg Martin's tutorial ( [link] ), I tried to incorporate bits and pieces from other tutorials, as well as rely on my own intuition. I primarily used textured brushes, especially for planet surface (it's brushed only). I am very pleased with final product, but I know that there is still a lot for me to learn. :)

Along with planet and atmosphere layers, this .psd file also contains two cloud layers, which you can transform (rotate, move etc.) to achieve different looks. Furthermore, I've included two shadow layers, one for crescent shadow (portrayed on the preview picture) and another for crescent light. This should allow you to adjust the planet to best suite the general lighting in your piece.

You can use this resource freely, no credits or anything. But, I do ask that you send me a note with the link of your deviation if you use it (so that I can see my planet in action :D ).

Since this is my first planet work, I strongly encourage you to post your comments. Thanks! :D

Cool, and it is your first go, but it looks a bit dodgy down the bottom. I can easily tell (maybe an LCD helps??) where you rubbed out all the stuff. Still good though.
Thanks for commenting. :) Can you be a bit more specific? Like, what parts of it are dodgy exactly and how; also is it just the planet layer or some of the others as well?

I don't know, I didn't download the pack, I'm just saying that by looking at the full-view.

I amped up the contrast in photoshop to point it out.

That being said, the rest is excellent and far better than anything I could make lol. Textures are super.
Ah, yes, I see what you mean. Thanks for such good illustration. :D I'll check out the .psd and see if I can make some corrections. ;-)
